Bilderbergertreffen 2003 Wer war dabei?

An diesen schwer bewachten Geheimtreffen wird jeweils die Weltpolitik der kommenden Monate bestimmt. Dennoch berichten die Massenmedien nicht darüber. Daß dies mit Absicht geschieht, wurde dieses Jahr besonders deutlich, da der G-8-Gipfel in Evian, der nur eine Woche später stattfand, in aller Welt Schlagzeilen machte.

Das aktuelle Bilderbergertreffen war gekennzeichnet durch eine große Kluft zwischen Amerikanern und Europäern, hervorgerufen durch den eigenmächtigen Irakkrieg der USA und deren einseitig proisraelische Haltung im Nahostkonflikt. "Ihr Amerikaner habt euch immer nur mit Worten, aber nie mit eurem Geld gegen die israelische Expansions- und Besatzungspolitik auf Palästinenserland gestellt. Weshalb habt ihr so große Angst vor der Israel-Lobby?", fragte ein europäischer Teilnehmer seinen amerikanischen Gast. "Sagt Sharon, daß er die ‚Road Map' für den Frieden akzeptieren muß, oder die amerikanischen Milliarden werden nicht länger nach Israel fließen", verlangten viele europäische Bilderberger.

Eine Woche später machte Sharon plötzlich eine totale Kehrtwende und kündigte am 26. Mai 2003 an, er wolle einen Friedensvertrag aushandeln: "Dreieinhalb Millionen Menschen, die unter Besatzung leben, ist schlecht für uns und für sie." Erstmals nahm Sharon das Wort ‚Besatzung' in den Mund - ein Anathema für viele Israelis, die glauben, daß alles Palästinenserland rechtmäßig ihnen gehöre.

Insider halten Sharons Einlenken für eine Reaktion auf den Druck aus europäischen Bilderbergerkreisen und der Furcht, die amerikanischen Gelder könnten versiegen. Manch ein israelischer Beobachter glaubt allerdings mehr an ein nicht allzu ernst gemeintes Hinhalte-Manöver Sharons, in der Hoffnung, daß die palästinensische Seite den Friedensprozeß dann schon wieder torpedieren werde - was ja auch eintrat.

Neben den Bilderberger-Veteranen wie David Rockefeller oder Henry Kissinger nahmen diesmal auch Paul Wolfowitz (US-Vize-Verteidigungsminister), John Bolton (US-Unterstaatssekretär) und Richard Perle (Rat für Verteidigungspolitik im Pentagon) teil, um die neokonservative US-Außenpolitik zu rechtfertigen.

Deutsche Teilnehmer waren: Innenminister Otto Schily, Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU), Jürgen Schrempp (DaimlerChrysler AG), Hilmar Kopper (ehemals Deutsche Bank AG), Klaus Zumwinkel (Deutsche Post Worldnet AG), Verleger Hubert Burda, Matthias Naas (Die Zeit).
